FONTAINE - Ernest Omer Joseph Fontaine passed away peacefully with family at his side on April 29th, 2016. He was born in Prud'homme, SK on April 14th, 1922 and died at the age of 94 at Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake SK. Dad was a kind, gentle man who devoted his life to his wife and family, faith and farming. Dad was grateful and appreciative for the care he received and always said, "thank you". Dad had a great sense of humour and he didn't mind a practical joke every now and again. He will be greatly missed by his children Clem (Alice), Donald (Louise), Normand (Michelle), Suzanne (Mike), Sylvia (Herve), Luc (Sylvia), Robert (Yvonne), Pauline (Ralph), Rita (Preston), Francois (Helen), 31 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers Gerard (Therese) Fontaine, Lionel (Fernande) Fontaine, and his sister Therese Thibault; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alice Hounjet, Sr. Gisele Raymond, Germaine (Armand) Grise, Jean (Pauline) Raymond, Therese (Joe) Mercier, Caroline Raymond. Ernest was predeceased by his wife Irene and his son-in-law Danny Cordes; his brothers Albert (Marie) Fontaine, Armand (Odile) Fontaine and his sisters Cecile (Raymond) Georget, Ida (Raymond) Huard, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Robert Thibault, Roland, Louis, and Arthur (Lucille) Raymond, Joseph Hounjet. The family wishes to thank Bethany Pioneer Village staff for their care in the past year and anyone who came to visit dad at the care home. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sts. Donatien et Rogatien Roman Catholic Church in Prud'homme SK, on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. led by Celebrant Rev. Fr. Marc Mireau. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sts. Donatien et Rogatien Roman Catholic Cemetery. The family recommends that anyone attending the funeral service take Hwy 5 and the Prud’homme grid north due to road construction on Hwy 27. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ernest may be directed to the Sts. Donatien et Rogatien parish.
