Every life at its end is just as precious as at its beginning.
With heavy hearts we celebrate the life of Peter John Uhryn of Wakaw, SK. Peter passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday April 8th, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Peter was born May 2, 1920 on the family homestead in the Sniatyn district to Ivan and Paraska (Huziek) Uhryn, the youngest of seven children. Peter courageously experienced numerous life changing challenges. He continued to farm on the very homestead where he was raised. It was designated as a Hundred Year Heritage Farm in 2003. Peter had a quiet disposition, was always curious and very generous. He loved to travel but above all enjoyed any family gathering with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left to mourn passing and cherish his memory are; his wife and soul mate of 71 years Emily (Michayluk); his son, Ernest (Arlene) and their children: Cynthia (Robert) Tessier, Jason (Oksana) Uhryn, Jennifer (Andrew Gorel) Uhryn; his daughter, Patricia (Jack) and their children: Christopher (Shannon) Cederstrand, Ryan (Alyssa Robertson) Cederstrand, Kerri (Russell) White; his great grandchildren: Kathlyn and Juliette Tessier, Evan Uhryn, Kasey and Carter Cederstrand, Rowan and Lucas White; his sister-in-law Mary Uhryn, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Paraska Uhryn, his siblings Mary (Nick) Markowski, William (Lena) Uhryn, Annie (Nick) Wasyliw, Lena (William) Yurashak, Pearl (John) Gryschuk and Nick Uhryn. The Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Kushneryk Funeral Service on Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at 10:30 am with The Very Rev. Fr. Taras Makowsky and Rev. Fr. Patrick Powalinsky as co-celebrants. Interment will follow in the Sniatyn Cemetery. Donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Rosthern Union Hospital Memorial Fund or to a charity of your choice.
