Obituary for Victor Jungwirth

Victor Jungwirth
Victor Jungwirth from the town of Cudworth passed away peacefully in his sleep, on March 6, 2019, at the Cudworth Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Victor Jungwirth was born in Humboldt, September 18, 1921 to John and Helena Jungwirth, who were farming in the Leofeld area. He was the oldest of 5 children. His siblings included Walter, Philip, Loretta and Dorothy. He attended school at St. Aloysius in Leofeld and graduated with a grade 8 education. He continued to work on the family farm, a job he took to heart and he excelled in. On May 30, 1944 Victor married Catherine Bens at St. Boniface Church in Leofeld. This spring in May they would have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary … 75 years of wedded bliss. On that farm, they raised a family of 8 children, 6 sons and 2 daughters. They shared the hard work and the rewards that followed. Victor was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the treasurer of the Lions Club and helped in the construction of the Cudworth Swimming Pool. He joined the Senior Citizens Club after moving to Cudworth and was treasurer of the club for 10 years. We want to give special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Cudworth Nursing Home for the loving and gentle care they provided for our father during his final days. We would also like to thank Fr. Colin Roy from St. Michael’s Parish in Cudworth for the spiritual support provided to dad and the family. Victor was a wonderful man. We will miss him but the burden of living had become very difficult. It was time for him to go to a better place and be at peace. He lived a good life and we will cherish his memories forever. Victor is lovingly remembered by his wife of just months short of 75 years Catherine (nee Bens), his children: Joyce Wedewer, Clarence (Margaret), Larry (Deby), Robert, Lloyd (Debbie), Eugene (Grace), and Vicky Martinson; 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, the mother of Denis’s children Lorraine, his sister Loretta (Joe) Krentz and his sister-in-law Lucy Jungwirth. Victor was predeceased by his parents, his son Denis Jungwirth, his granddaughter Melissa Jungwirth, his sons-in-law Don Wedewer and Jerry Chernishenko and his siblings: Walter and Helen (Bens) Jungwirth, Philip Jungwirth and Dorothy McFee. The Prayer Vigil was held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Both Services were held at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cudworth with Rev. Fr. Colin Roy as Celebrant. Interment followed in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Victor may be directed to the Cudworth Nursing Home or to St. Michael’s Haven. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
