Obituary for Anton Michealycia

Anton  Michealycia
Anton passed away peacefully at the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw on June 30, 2014. Anton was born on March 10, 1914 in Tarnopol, Saskatchewan. He was the eighth of nine children of Roman Michealycia and Josephine Adamowski Michealycia. Anton attended Tarnopol School #2579. When he was fourteen, he began working for various farmers. In 1935, he bought a farm in the Yellow Creek area and in 1937, he married Josephine Chubak. During the years of the second world war, Anton spent some time working as a brick layer in Ontario and in logging camps in British Columbia. In 1945, the Michealycias purchased a house in the hamlet of New Tarnopol and lived there until moving to Wakaw in 1972. Anton worked for the C. N. Railroad Company as a section man from 1948 until his retirement in 1978. During that time he was stationed out of Reynaud, Yellow Creek, Ethelton, Melfort, Aberdeen and Wakaw. In June of 2012, he moved to Goodwill Manor in Duck Lake and transitioned to the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in 2013 where he celebrated his 100th birthday in March, surrounded by family. Throughout his life, Anton loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He enjoyed carpentry, mechanics and was always on the lookout for his “next” vehicle. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Josephine; their infant son, Edward Robert; his parents, Josephine and Roman; brothers and sisters – Peter, Phyllis, Mary, Carol, Mike, Paul, Ann and Sophie; son-in-law, Walter Krawchuk. Anton will be remembered and missed by his daughters Marilyn Krawchuk and Lillian (Morris) Boychuk, his grandchildren: Bob (Allice Tayler) Krawchuk, Donna Krawchuk, Tammy (Shane Armstrong) Boychuk, Kevin (Krista) Boychuk and Kirby (Laurel Ridley) Boychuk; his great-grandchildren: Kali-Anne, Kolby, Julia, Anastassia and Oksana; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
