With great sadness, we mourn the passing of our dear mother, Jeanne Comeau, who’s struggle with a devastating and debilitating disease took her life on October 24, 2022. She fought courageously each day with such grace and on most days, with a big beautiful smile. Mom was predeceased by her husband Harry Comeau, her sisters Therese St. Arnaud, Denise Cain, brothers Michel, John, and Henry Blondeau, brothers-in-law Paul Marcoux, Roland St. Arnaud, Andre Comeau, sisters-in-law Barbara Blondeau, Lillian Blondeau, Laurette Comeau, her niece Micheline Comeau and nephew Mark Comeau. She is survived by her seven children: Nicole (Bart) Zimmer, Denise (Ray) Girling, Roseline (Jim) Kroshus, Jack (Sandy) Comeau, Dan (Ayu) Comeau, Elaine (Gord) Wartman, Bernie Comeau, 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; and by her brother Alex Blondeau, sisters Sally (Don) Crawford, Beatrice (Brian) Waldner, Lorraine Blondeau, sisters-in-law Jeannine Blondeau, Terry (Harold) Blondeau, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was the sixth child born to Bernadette Baril and Joseph Blondeau in Domremy Sask, on April 17, 1933. She married the love of her life, Harry Comeau, in June, 1952. Together they established themselves on a farm in Hoey, Sk., where their lives immediately became very busy. Along with the farming, cattle, and some chickens in the early years, babies were born year over year. Her favorite pastimes included sewing, knitting, hardanger, reading and she also loved to cook and entertain. With her large garden she would preserve up to one thousand quarts of produce, fruits, meats and whatever else was available, always ready for a large crowd, a party or to feed the hungry harvest crew. In 1966 they moved to Saskatoon where Mom continued to enjoy her hobbies adding a few extras. She took the opportunity to continue her education, take advantage of the library for research, and enrolled in Spanish classes at the university, all while working full time with a house full of teenagers. Thus began her love of travelling, genealogy and writing. Mom wrote diligently about everything: her memoirs, poems and stories of their travels and life. Mom and Dad scoured the world to experience different cultures, foods and ethnicities. Their most cherished excursions were the trips they made to Europe and Mexico with best friends. Mom led a very robust, full life, giving unselfishly to her family, and to all the causes that were dear to her heart. She will be sadly missed by everyone who came to know her and her warm, beautiful smile. Mom’s celebration of life will be held on November 1, 2022, at Holy Family Cathedral, 123 Nelson Rd, Saskatoon, SK S7S 1H1, Canada at 10:30 am.
