Obituary for Janet Stocki (Wolitski)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and cousin, Janet Stocki (Wolitski). Janet passed away peacefully at Melfort Hospital in Melfort, SK on September 28th, 2022 at the age of 82 years with family by her side.

Janet was born on November 15th, 1939 to Annie and John Wolitski in Wakaw, Saskatchewan and was the youngest of 10 children. She grew up on the family farm near Yellow Creek, SK. After finishing school, Janet would move to Edmonton where she worked for a brief time as a waitress. After meeting at a dance, Janet would marry the love of her life Carl Stocki of Tarnopol, SK. Together they raised 6 daughters. Janet enjoyed being a farm wife and a stay at home mother. As her daughters grew up and began having children of their own, Janet would enjoy her time spent with grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings.

Janet will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Matti Hidlebaugh, Adeline Gunnarson, Diane Stocki-Dyck, Marianne Reiter (Al Reiter) and Amanda Holm, her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brothers Tony Wolitski and Marian (Marge) Wolitski, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janet will always be remembered for her gentle hands that planted and produced wonderful gardens, pinched many perogies, and held so many babies. She will also be remembered for her love for her family, helping on the farm, her love for books and playing card games.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Wakaw, SK with Rev. Fr. Matthew Nguyen as celebrant. Interment will be held at The Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Cemetery in Tarnopol, SK.
