Obituary for Albina Sikorski (Sopotyk)

SIKORSKI, Albina
(nee Sopotyk)

May 31, 1938 - September 17, 2022

After 85 years of life and fighting a short battle with cancer, Albina drew her final breath while surrounded by family.

Albina, affectionately known to all as "Baba Beanie," is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Darcie and Jack Lieffers; her grandchildren: Jeremy and Bev Cairns, Kim and Jared Dahl, Dusty and Alex Johnston, Lacy Lieffers and Garrett Evans, Justin Lieffers and Alysha McCrae, and Kendra Cairns and Layne Barth; her great-grandchildren: Rayne and Tim Orange, Revrik and Maeli Dahl, Ryker and Zoey Johnston, Dayton, Zoey, and Silas McCrae, Scarlett and baby girl Barth; her great-great-grandchildren, Ezra and Shiloh Orange; her sister, Malvena Mantyka, and sister-in-law, Arlene Sopotyk; and numerous family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe, her parents, Myroslaw and Anna Sopotyk, her parents-in-law, Mike and Anne Sikorski; her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Ron Cairns; and her brother, Mike Sopotyk, and brother-in-law, Michael Mantyka.
Albina started her career managing the Alvena Co-op from 1962-1978, and then worked at Wunderlich's Hardware for the seventeen years after moving to Cudworth in 1979, all the while making and selling perogies and cabbage rolls until her passing. Through it all, her true passion in life was always her family and loved ones around her.
Albina enjoyed curling, making ceramics, crocheting, embroidery, decorating pysanky (Ukrainian eggs), planting garden, tending to her flowers, picking mushrooms and Saskatoon berries, playing Canasta, doing puzzles and word search, watching game shows, baking pies and other treats, making noodles, and spending time and sharing stories with her loved ones.
