Obituary for Andre Leon William Lalonde
It is with profound sadness and great love that the family of André Leon William Lalonde of Saskatoon announces his unexpected but peaceful passing surrounded by family after learning of his aggressive cancer diagnosis less than 48 hours earlier, at the age of 39.
Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle is remembered by his wife Leah (née Bridgeman), children Maggie and Jack; parents Bob and Jeanie Lalonde, siblings, nieces and nephews, Danielle, Damien & Aurora, Denise (Garth), Jeanne, Justin, Rémi & Jonah, Joey (Crysta), Evan, Parker & Skylar and Jacqueline (Brent), William, his Bridgeman in-law family, countless more relatives and wonderful friends.
André grew up an active, sports-loving, super-social young man in Vonda, SK, attending École Providence through Grade 10, he then moved to Aberdeen School until his high school graduation. He attended the University of Regina for French Education before realizing that having a career that kept him physically active made him happier, which brought him to plumbing. André was proud to do quality work as a plumber and truly loved working at Gibbon Heating & Air Conditioning until the end of his career.
André was a devoted family man and a loyal friend. He never wanted to miss a single celebration, niece or nephew’s performance or game, or any excuse to get together. He made new friends wherever he went and truly enjoyed learning from and getting to know people.
André found his most sacred purpose when he met his wife Leah and her children, Maggie and Jack, who were 8 and 6 at the time. It felt as if he’d been waiting for this opportunity; to be the most wonderful husband and father. Once they decided to get married, there was no question that André would be adopting Maggie and Jack. As far as he was concerned, they had always been his kids; he just met them a little later. After a very brief engagement, André and Leah were married on November 25th, 2017 and during the ceremony, André said his vows to Leah, then also made vows to each of the children that he was now Dad, and would be forever. André immediately filed the paperwork to legally adopt Maggie and Jack, then the four of them proudly became The Lalonde Family.
André was an avid and vocal sports fan, and you would frequently hear him cheering loudly or sticking up for his beloved Oilers, Bengals, Blue Jays and Rush. He saved his most passionate cheering for his kids’ sports. Maggie and Jack could often hear their dad, over all of the other fans at the rink or arena or on the field, rooting for them and encouraging them to give it their all.
Prayers will be held at St. Philippe de Neri, Vonda on August 21st, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Christ Church Anglican, Saskatoon, SK on Monday, August 22nd, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow at a later date.
