Obituary for Michael Phillip Simon
Simon - Michael, at 92 years of age, passed away with his family at his side on June 30, 2022.
Mike was born on the farm by Basin lake to Terez and Steve Simon. Mike grew up with 2 brothers, Steve and Andrew as well as 2 sisters, Elizabeth and Helen. On October 27, 1953 he married Maryella Goller from Wakaw, Sask. Mike and Maryella were very successful grain farmers along with all their farm animals. Mike was very active on many boards. He was a councillor for the RM of Three Lakes for 30 years. On the Yellow Creek School Board for 16 years and for 5 of those years he was chairman. Mike was also on the Credit Union Board for 9 years as well. He spent 10 years on the Yellow Creek Gym Board and 6 years on the District 28 Ag Committee. Mike semi retired after losing Maryella and moved to Yellow Creek. From there he moved to Wakaw where he enjoyed his final years in Seniorville playing Kaiser. Mike Leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his children: Karen (Barry) Oleksyn, Iris Fleming, Sally (Leonard) Wojcichowsky, Marilynn (Grant) McTavish, Della Wojcichowsky and Myles (Joy) Simon; his sisters Elizabeth Nemeth and Helen Mazur; as well as his 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by: his wife Maryella (Goller); parents, Steve and Terez (Gulrich); parents-in-law, Michael and Theresa (Boehm) Goller; brothers, Steve (Evelyn) and Andrew (Lorna); brothers-in-law, Emil Mazur, Leslie Nemeth, Albert Goller, Francis (Margaret) Schneider, Armand Frechette, Leo Goller, Edward (Margaret) Goller, Mervin (Rose) Goller, Elie Goller, Herbert Goller as well as his sons-in-law, Daryl Wojcichowsky and Glenn Fleming. A Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 7:30 pm at the chapel of Kushneryk Funeral Service in Wakaw. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Wakaw, SK, on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 10:30 am with Rev. Fr. Matthew Nguyen as celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mike may be directed to the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
