Obituary for Philip Anthony Mueller

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Philip Anthony Mueller on Wednesday May 5, 2021 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 95 years. Philip was born May 18, 1925, the eldest son of John and Mary Muller and grew up on the family farm 6 miles West of St. Benedict. He attended Belmont School through grade 8 and completed his high school education at St. Peters College in Muenster. In March, 1944, Philip reported in Regina for conscripted military service. In May 1946, following the war, he was discharged from service. In September 1946, Philip was enrolled in the College of Education at the University of Saskatchewan. Following his graduation, he accepted the position of Principal and Senior Room teacher at Minaki school in St. Benedict. His next step in his career was as principal of Cudworth school for two years. In 1955, Philip completed his studies for B.A degree and in 1956 he accepted a teaching position at Scott Collegiate in Regina. After this, he moved to Wakaw and accepted a teaching position at the high school. He continued teaching at Wakaw for the next 23 years with the last 14 years of them as principal. In 1980, Philip retired from teaching. During his retirement, he spent his time farming, travelling, photography, attending Saskatchewan Roughrider games. But mostly, he enjoyed visiting with relatives and sharing his many stories. Philip was predeceased by his parents, brothers Eugene and Peter, sisters-in-law Giselle and Helen, as well as his nephew Meldan. He leaves to mourn his loss, his nephews and nieces; Kevin (Deb), Braden (Noel), Janet, Brian, Diane (Luc), Theresa and Monica (Jeff). He is also survived by several great - nieces and nephews. A public visitation was held in the chapel of Kushneryk Funeral Service in Wakaw on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private family Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Wakaw with Rev. Fr. Matthew Nguyen as celebrant. Interment followed at the St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Philip may be directed to the CNIB or to the St. Theresa Parish.
