Obituary for Gilles Joseph Gaudet

It is both with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Gilles Joseph Gaudet announces his peaceful passing with his wife by his side on Friday, November 20th, at the age of 89 years. Gilles is lovingly remembered by his caring wife of 23 years, Lucille; his children: Danny (Lisa) Gaudet, Jacqueline (Andy) Grenier, Gary (Raylene) Gaudet, Gail (Perry) Gaudet, and Daryl (Andrea) Gaudet; his twelve grandchildren: Chelsea, Paige, Krystle (Devin Pratt), Kandace (Doug Kaminski), Kolby (Angelea Radesic), Ashley, Meagan, Chantelle (Matt Ryback), Dan, Chanelle (Brandon Heise), Kalym, and Kayde; his eight great-grandchildren: Emma, Ava, Dax, Kenzie, Kashton, Blakely, Norah, and Isaac; his step-children and step-grandchildren: Vivian (Robin Dupuis) – Melanie (Jason Joubert), Brittney (Taylor Greenbank), Chelsea (Mathew Hayduk); Norman Gaudet – Brent (Mercedis McDonald and her children; Lukas and Savanna), Kyle, Ashlyn; Lisa (Roger Tessier) - Bryden and Jared; his siblings: Lydia Gaudet, Roseline Deault, Nicole Brooks, and Sylvain Gaudet; and his numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Gilles was predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine Gaudet; his infant grandson, Lyndon; his siblings: Ronald, Roger, Fernand, and Annette; his parents, Jean and Germaine Gaudet; his step-father, Edmond Betemps; and his parents-in-law, Elsie and Pierre Boyer. Gilles will be remembered by his warm-hearted, compassionate, and gentle nature. Although he never needed to be the center of attention, he had a certain “joie de vivre”, and never missed an opportunity to be around his family and friends. He was a selfless, empathetic, and kind soul. Even with health hardships, Gilles gifted us all by keeping the family together with a closeness that is both genuine and rare. We take consolation in the happiness of our many memories together: curling, casino voleur, card games, Dad’s cookies, and his funny phrases like “miséricorde,” “et la-la,” and “et tabule.” He had a sharp memory and was a known genealogical connaisseur in the area. He remained tech-savy, using his ipad to keep up with the latest news, or to keep in touch with his family and friends through Facebook and Facetime. Gilles was also a man of many strengths and talents, and was many things throughout his life: he was a mechanic, a store owner, an SGI insurance agent, a carpenter, and a woodworker… But most of all, he was our sweet Pépère. Rest in peace, Dad, we love you forever. A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at 3:30 am on Thursday, November 26th , 2020, at St. Isidore-de-Bellevue Parish. Interment of the Urn took place at th Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Gilles may be directed to the Saskatchewan Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
