Obituary for George Alexander "Georgie" Madraga Jr.

It is with sadness and heavy hearts we say goodbye to our Dad and Gido, George Alexander Madraga Jr," Georgie."

Dad passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at the age of 67. The way Dad lived is like the way he died. He wrote his own rules and paved his own way. If you said he couldn't do it, he would make sure he could.

Dad was born to George and Olga Madraga on January 4, 1953, in Yellow Creek, SK. It was there that his passion for farming and sales grew. At the age of 17 he married mom, Dianne Oleksyn and very soon had their own family with the birth of their first daughter, Kari, a son, Cory and a second daughter, Stacy.

Dad worked along side his father on the farm and ran Madraga Implements John Deere for close to 30 years. When Gido decided to retire from the business and continue to farm Dad's passion for sales took him to Prince Albert, SK. where they began selling Polaris recreation and used autos out of a trailer, Madraga Deals on Wheels. Continuing much hard work it grew again to Madraga Distributors and another growth to Madraga Speed ‘n Sport where he achieved his life long goal of becoming North America's #1 Polaris Dealer.

Dad lived a full and happy life doing exactly what he loved to do. Dad had a huge personality. He left a memorable impression on the many people he met even if it was a 5 minute or 3 hour visit. He loved his farm, he loved to fish with his buddies, he loved to auction. He loved his children and grandchildren. He loved his Orthodox faith. He loved his family near and far. Dad loved LIFE and LIVED every minute of his 67 years.

George is survived by his three children:
Kari (Sheldon), Cory (Meaghan) and Stacy (Dallas); five grandchildren: Riley, Brady, Kadence, Harper and Hope. Dad is also survived by his sister Marilyn Madraga and his uncle Victor (Pat) Stelmaschuk and numerous other relatives. Thank you to Joan Kowalchuk for being there for Dad these last few years.

Dad, you were the patriarch of our family. We will miss your smile, your sense of humour, your stories but most of all your love and support. You will live on through all of us. We will love you forever and always.

Until we meet again,
Vichnaya Pamyat (Memory Eternal)!
