Obituary for Edward Robert Dutka

Edward “Eddie” Dutka passed away at Melfort Hospital December 1, 2019 at the age of 80. Edward was born August 14, 1939 at Wakaw, Sk. He was the oldest of 2 children of Nick Dutka and Mary (Chubak) Dutka. The Dutka family lived in the Yellow Creek area. This is where he met and married Rose Tokarchik. Edward and Rose were married 57 years this November. Edward farmed in the Yellow Creek area with his son Kelvin. Edward and Rose had two children, Kelvin born in 1966, and Patrick born in 1973. He was a great family man and enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He always enjoyed the grandchildren Kelsey, Kyle, Brooklyn and Brielle. They always enjoyed his stories even if they had heard them before. Edward had a great sense of humor and took great pride in teasing the grandchildren and trying to get a rise out of them. Edward had many great friends with whom he enjoyed meeting at auction sales, and having morning coffee at Rosie’s coffee shop. After coffee he would go for a crop tour to make sure everything was growing good. Edward lived his whole life in the Yellow Creek area and was most content on the farm. He enjoyed his life on the farm raising cattle, hogs and growing grain. Harvest was Edwards favorite part of the farm life, swathing and combining were his favorite times of the year. Edward in his later years enjoyed watching Soap operas, Blue Jays Baseball, Curling and a good drama on Netflix. Edward enjoyed 80 years of relatively good health, although the last month was a struggle, he managed to maintain his sense of humor and enjoyed his many visits from his loyal family and friends. Edward is survived by his loving wife Rose, sons Kelvin (Debbie) Dutka and their children Kelsey (Brody Doepker) and Kyle (Nicole Peterson); Patrick (Jamie) Dutka and their children Brooklyn and Brielle. He was predeceased by his Sister Olga in infancy, and his parents Nick and Mary. A Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
