Candace Kim Bernier
Candace Kim Bernier (nee L’Heureux) passed away March 31, 2018 at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK at the of age 49. She was born April 7, 1968 to Danny and Shirley L’Heureux. She grew up in Meadow Lake, SK in a home where friends became family. She was a strong student, horse enthusiast, accomplished musician, a voracious reader and had an eye for fashion. Candace was active in school with many interests and she excelled at all of them. She was extremely social with a dynamic group of friends, who are still close to this day. Summers were spent at Meadow Lake Provincial Park where she enjoyed the solace and calm of being at the lake. She graduated from Carpenter High School in 1986 and enrolled into the University of Saskatchewan where she earned a degree in Education spring 1990. Candace met her husband, Dean Bernier while at University, and they were married August 10, 1991. They settled in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Candace taught in several schools over her 27 years of teaching with her favourite being teaching high school English at St. Mary High School. In October of ’98 they welcomed their first child Wyatt into the family; he was followed by Ty in March ‘01. Candace was extremely proud of her boys and supported them in all of their endeavours. She was a respected teacher and was known for her quick wit, professionalism, organizational skills and her strong will. Candace and Dean designed and built their forever home in, 2008. They moved out to their acreage and Candace was at peace running a busy household. Driving up to the house, Candace could often be found reading a book by the fireplace. It looked like a Norman Rockwell painting. Candace was extremely creative and made works of art on canvas, cloth and in the kitchen. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, friend and loving daughter. Candace was predeceased by her Father-in-law Armand Bernier, her grandparents Fernand and Myrtle L’Heureux, Ray and Mary Nichols, her Uncle Gary Nichols and Aunt Melva Paterson.
