It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces Marcel’s passing on June 24, 2016. Marcel Eugene was born January 28th, 1931 in the Wakaw district, the eldest of 4 children born to Joseph and Elizabeth (Goller) Nagy. He grew up near Lepine, Sask. In 1949, he enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan, College of Agriculture where he studied for 3 years. Marcel began farming with his dad, and then began his own career in farming in 1954 when he bought his own quarter of land. Marcel married Yvonne Redl in 1956, and moved to their own farm near Wakaw, where they raised 7 children. Marcel played the accordion and guitar by ear. He enjoyed his time at Domremy Beach in the summer and especially enjoyed fishing. He took up saw sharpening part-time and he enjoyed wood working. Marcel was a member of the school board for several years, and a member of the Sask Wheat Pool Committee. In 1995 he retired from farming. They moved to town a few years later, and he enjoyed looking after his yard in town.Marcel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Yvonne, his children: Lucille (Harry) Hrapchak of Wakaw, SK., Cynthia (Sid) Kulrich of Watrous, SK., Harold (Nancy) of Winnipeg, MB., Loretta Wiebe of Wakaw, SK., Bea (Don) Pawluk of Saskatoon, SK., and Juantia (Shawn) Kolla of Cudworth, SK.; 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, his brother Dennis (Anna) of Humboldt, SK., his sister Eileen Mazurek of Saskatoon, SK., his sister-in-law Joan Nagy of Kelowna, B.C. as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
