It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Rodney Len Oleksyn on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw, at the age of 57 years. Rodney was born October 21, 1958 to Victor and Olive Oleksyn. He received his schooling in Wakaw. He was on the high school boys curling team and played fastball with the Wakaw Gophers as a first baseman participating in many sports days. He was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Rodney farmed with his father and brothers. The winter months were spent playing Kaiser and Cribbage with family and friends. In the spring time, he went picking Morel mushrooms. Some of his favourite foods were fresh garden peas and cucumbers, Cheez Whiz, raisin pie, Baba’s beet relish and spinach soup. He fished and hunted with his friends. Rodney leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his brothers Carey and Tom both of Wakaw, his aunts and uncles: Helen Oleksyn, Rose Luciuk, Toni (Ken) Summers, Joe (Vicki) Oleksyn, Edward Oleksyn, Olga Bougher and Darlene Kindrachuk; as well as numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
