It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Romaniuk at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Stony Plain, Alberta on Sunday July the 26th, 2015 at the age of 84 years.

Helen was born in Alticane, Saskatchewan on June 14th, 1931. She was the oldest of three children born to Frank and Katherine Zyznomirski. In 1947, she married John Romaniuk and they began their life on the farm in the Sokal area. Their only child, Kathy was born in 1972. They continued to farm until John passed away in 1985 and Helen then moved to the town of Wakaw, where she lived for many years. She enjoyed her involvement with the church, gardening and traveling. She was always open to new adventures and loved talking to people. In 2006, Helen moved to Calahoo, Alberta to be closer to her daughter with whom she resided for nearly ten years.

Helen is survived by her daughter Kathy (Peter) Romaniuk Verge of Calahoo, Alberta, her sister-in-law Mary Zyznomirski of Alticane, Saskatchewan, her brother-in-law Nick (Grace) Romaniuk of Toronto, Ontario as well as her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Helen was predeceased by her loving husband John, parents Frank and Katherine Zyznomirski, brother Joe Zyznomirski, sister Sophie (Eddie) Sass, sisters in law Olga and Annie and brothers in law Mike, Bill, and Fred.
