Obituary for Albert Amedee Joseph Fontaine

We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, Albert Fontaine on May 5, 2015, at Strasbourg, SK. Albert was born September 27, 1918, in Prud’homme, SK, the oldest of Ludger and Eva Fontaine’s eight children. He started working at an early age as a hired hand for several farmers in the Prud’homme area, before starting his own farm. He married Marie Thibault in 1957 and together they raised four children. He continued farming until the age of 65, at which time he retired in the town of Prud’homme. In 2007, he moved to the Foyer Jésus-Marie in Bellevue, where he lived until the fall of 2014, when he moved to Last Mountain Pioneer Home in Strasbourg. Albert was always an avid reader and had a keen interest in current events, most recently following CNN throughout the day. He never missed reading his daily paper and readily provided his opinion on whatever what was going on in the world. Albert loved to visit and, with a memory for names and dates like no other, he was always happy to tell stories of long ago or to explain how people were related or otherwise connected.
Albert was predeceased by his wife, Marie, his daughter, Claire, his son-in-law, Guy Bertrand, his siblings: Ida (Raymond) Huard, Cécile (Raymond) Georget, Armand (Odile) Fontaine; and his brother-in-law, Robert Thibault. Albert is survived by his son Guy, his son Maurice (Gisèle), and their children, Michael, Danielle and Luc, his daughter Louise and her daughter Emilie Bertrand, as well as his brothers Gérard (Thérèse), Ernest (Irène), Lionel (Fernande) and his sister, Thérèse Thibault.
