Peter Omelan passed away peacefully at the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge in Wakaw, on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Peter is survived by his loving wife Mary, his son Lawrence (Charlene) of Saskatoon, SK., his grandchildren Aaron and Connor, his brother Slawko Omelan of Wakaw, SK., his sister Jean Sorokowski of Roselands, Australia, his sisters-in-law Nat (Peter) Hyshka of Saskatoon, SK. and Iris (Terry) Uhryn of Wakaw, SK., his brother-in-law Marvin Sytarchuk of Wakaw, SK., as well as his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Philip and Anastasia Omelan, his brothers: John (Barbara), Mike (Elma), Steve, Emil (Kay), and Myron (Margaret); his sisters: Rose (Mike) Pasieka, Mary (Isidore) Maruschak and Olga (Carl) Rutko; and his brother-in-law Walter Sorokowski. The Prayer Vigil was held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. and the Divine Liturgy was held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Both Services were held at the at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church in Wakaw with Rev. Fr. Mykola Romanets officiating. Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery at St. Jude. Donations in memory of Peter may be directed to the Lakeview Pioneer Lodge.
