It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Armand Fontaine, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Armand passed away peacefully at his home on February 11, 2014 at the age of 81. Armand was born and raised on the farm in the Prud’Homme area. In 1958, Armand married Odile Mercier and at that time they took over the family homestead. Together they farmed in Prud’Homme and raised four children. Armand had a strong passion for farming in which we shared and proudly passed on to his son and grandson, making it a 4th generation homestead. Armand had an even greater passion and love for his wife Odile, having spent a wonderful 55 years with her. In 1986, Mom and Dad moved into of Prud’Homme where they enjoyed semi-retirement as Dad spent as much time as he could on the farm. In December of 2012, they moved to St. Vlodymyr Villa in Saskatoon. Dad enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved the time he shared with his siblings and the lifelong friends they both had made. Armand is loved and remembered by his wife Odile, his children: Helene (Clay) Kusch, Roger (Connie) Fontaine, Marcel Fontaine and Diane Fontaine; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his four brothers, his one sister, and his in-laws. He will be reunited with his parents, Odile’s parents, his two sisters and his in-laws. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Vlodymyr Villa, and the many family and friends who provided solace during this difficult time. It is greatly appreciated. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the St. Donatien et Rogatien Roman Catholic Church in Prud’Homme on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Marc Mireau as celebrant. Interment of the Urn will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Armand may be directed to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation.
