Obituary for Michael Murray Calyniuk

The family of Michael Murray Calyniuk, affectionately known as “Meeshco”, regret to announce his passing at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, at the age of 57 years. Michael, our groundhog, was born on February 2, 1960 in Wakaw, SK to Paul and Emily Calyniuk. He attended Wakaw School until grade 8. He then moved to Saskatoon where he attended Sion High School for 2 years achieving his grade 10. Michael was a happy, carefree child. He had a love of sports and he was a very proud manager of the Wakaw Cougars Soft Ball team. Michael had several different jobs, one of his favourites was in maintenance with Boychuk Property Management. He then went on to become co-owner of the 33rd Street Car Wash. Michael was predeceased by his parents Paul and Emily (Michayluk) Calyniuk, his sister Darlene Dembrowski, his brother-in-law Julian Dembrowski and three infant siblings. Michael is survived by his brothers Dave (Adeline) and Leslie “George” (Eunice); his sisters Vesper (Peter) Chilliack and Sally (Kelvin) Ollenberger; as well as thirteen nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends. The Divine Liturgy was held at the St. Julien Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Mykola Romanets officiating. Interment followed in the St. Julien Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Michael can be directed to the St. Julien Ukrainian Catholic Church.
