It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lana (Kotelko) Thomas on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the age of 57 years. Beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend and colleague. Lana leaves a huge hole in all of our hearts. Lana was predeceased by her beloved husband James, her parents John and Sophie Kotelko, her brother Eugene and his wife Cheryl. The 3 most important aspects of Lana’s life were: family, faith and work. After the passing of her beloved husband, Lana devoted her life to raising her children Everett, Jonathan and Victoria, whom she loved unconditionally. It was her deep, unshakeable faith that carried her through the many difficult challenges that life dealt her. She was the driving force in the Orthodox Church of Annunciation where she spent countless hours as a board member, choir member, fundraiser, teacher, and support to all. For 31 years, Lana devoted her life to education. She started her career as a resource teacher, spending the last 20 years as Director of Special Education for the Orcutt Union School District. Lana is survived by her children, her brother Mike and his wife Sheryl, her brother Orest and his wife Patty, many nieces and nephews, and her dear friends Jean and Mary and their families. A Funeral Service will be held at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cudworth on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Patrick Powalinsky officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kuhneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK, 306-233-4403.
