André Joseph Gareau was born in Bellevue SK on January 14, 1940 to Eugénie and Camille Gareau. He passed away peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyère Hospital in Ottawa ON, after a brief illness, on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the age of 77. André grew up on the farm in Bellevue, as the youngest boy in a family of 14 children. After obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Saskatchewan, André moved to Ottawa to begin his career in Statistics. He worked for the federal government for 40 years. André was a gentle man, who lived a simple life. His smile was welcoming and at times, held a hint of mischief. His passions were world-wide travel; he loved to explore new places. Every year, he was planning his next trip to a far-off land, or back to Saskatchewan or British Columbia to visit family. He also enjoyed the opera, classical music and old western movies. André had a collection of opera records and old movies. André leaves to mourn his sisters: Edna Gaudet of North Battleford, SK, Olive (Ray) Michaud of Saskatoon, SK, Juliette Gaudet of Prince Albert SK, and Sr. Gertrude Gareau of Prince Albert SK; his brother Bro. Charles Gareau of Montreal, PQ; his sister-in-law Lucille Gareau of Prince Albert SK, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
