Obituary for Anne Bilokury

Anne  Bilokury
Anne (Luciuk) Bilokury of Saskatoon Sk, formerly of Wakaw Sk, peacefully fell asleep in the Lord on November 28, 2016 with her loving family at her side.
Anne was born on February 15, 1924 at the Anna Turnball hospital in Wakaw. After completing her High School in Wakaw, she went on to Normal School and accepted her first teaching job at St. Jude School.
During this time Anne met Anton Bilokury. They were wed on July 30, 1950. He was the love of her life for over 65 years. Together they farmed in the Wakaw area and also owned and operated a hotel in Elfros.
Anne was a faithful member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Wakaw and a very active member of the UWAC Olha Bassarabova Branch where she held numerous executive positions.
Within the Wakaw community, Anne was involved in 4-H, Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Centennial Choir, Club 99, and helped compile and publish Wakaw's history book, “A Land Harvested by Faith”.
Anne's interests included gardening, sewing, all types of needlework, quilting, Easter Egg painting, collecting and experimenting with new recipes, and travelling. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Anne's last few years were spent at Ilarion Residence. There, she rekindled old friendships, met and made new friends, and enjoyed participating in the Seniors program.
Anne is survived by her loving family; daughter Vesper (Nestor) Kowalsky and children Andrew, Janna, Leanna; son Myron and children Kayla, Karri; daughter-in-law Daphne Bilokury; sister-in-law Rose Luciuk; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Anton, parents Ewan and Alexandra Luciuk, siblings John, Nettie, William, Mary, Alexandra, George.
