Slawko Omelan passed away peacefully at the Rosthern Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Slawko is survived by his sister Jean Sorokowski of Roselands, Australia, his sister-in-law Mary Omelan of Wakaw, SK., as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Philip and Anastasia (Turta) Omelan, his brothers: John (Barbara), Mike (Elma), Steve, Emil (Kay), Myron (Margaret), and Peter; his sisters: Rose (Mike) Pasieka, Mary (Isidore) Maruschak, Olga (Carl) Rutko; and his brother-in-law Walter Sorokowski. The Prayer Vigil was held on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. and the Divine Liturgy was held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Both Services were held at the at the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church in Wakaw with Rev. Fr. Mykola Romanets officiating. Interment followed in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery at Sokal. Donations in memory of Slawko may be directed to the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sokal, Saskatchewan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Marc Blondeau of Kushneryk Funeral Service, Wakaw, SK 306-233-4403.
