It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don " Chickadee" Matheson. Predeceased by his mother Anne and father Archie, he is survived by his wife and best friend Valerie, their sons Justin and Steven, his daughters Suzanne and Estelle and their mother Deb, his grandchildren Travis, Dylan, Jacob, Antonio, Dante, Daniella and Danika, his sister Sharon, niece Tiffany, nephews Andrew, Terry and Tommy. Family and friends were the most important things to Don and he touched so many people over his lifetime. He lived a very full life, not always an easy one, but he always followed his heart. He held unconditional love for his soulmate Val, was very proud of his children and grandchildren. A blessed friend and mentor to many, he leaves us with a gift of many fond memories and the invaluable wisdom he shared with so many of us. He enjoyed cooking, politics, spending an afternoon fishing, or tinkering with one his many projects, loved his great danes and was always passionate about trains.. He lived to ride his beloved motorcycles, they were a defining part of his life. He loved spending time with Val and always put her ahead of anything
He was a unique man, a brilliant mind, a loving soul, and will be missed by many.

A motorcycle escorted procession will bring him home at 12.00 Sunday, Sept. 14 from the Wakaw funeral home to the Alvena community center where we will celebrate his life at 2.00. Afterwards, as per his wishes, his ashes will be spread at home under his favorite willow that he and his boys planted years ago.
